Things You May Not Know About Me

Not terribly important, but I realized that I have accumulated experience and talents that other people don't know about! Not blowing my own horn but...

The Basics

  • Born in Lubbock, Texas in June of 1961. You do the math.
  • Highest level of education: high school. Coronado High School, to be exact.
  • 4 years in the Air Force, mostly at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Neb. I'm a veteran, man!

Talents and Other Stuff

  • Beginning in 1983 after the Air Force I repaired all kinds of computers. I have worked as a professional web designer since 1999. My dream job!
  • I wanted to be a magician when I was very young. I was actually a wanna-be member of a magicians' club (SAM) for a year or so.
  • When I was 12, I sang the lead part in a Christmas opera for church. The opera was "Amahl and the Night Visitors". My father sang the part of one of the Wise Men (Kaspar).
  • I did it again, but this time for an opera being produced at Texas Tech University. This opera was "Carmen". One of my cousins that attended Tech at the time (Leah Thompson) was in the production too.
  • I was in concert and/or marching band all through junior high and high school.
  • For 16 years, I was the lead singer in a Christian rock band. We recorded three different projects.
  • To this point, I have been both a singer and worship leader in a church band. One of my sons (Daniel) played drums in the same band with me.

Old Enough To Remember:

  • When gas was about .29 per gallon. When I became old enough to drive, it still took only about $5 to fill up the tank of my dad's Buick Opal.
  • When jets flew low over my house at supersonic speed, and created a sonic 'BOOM!' that rattled the windows. (I loved it)
  • When there was no such thing as a 'personal' computer. The only computers I saw were on TV.
  • When there was no such thing as an 'Internet'. And thinking it sounded funny when the first commercials that mentioned "dot com" came out.
  • When it was definitely NOT OK for black males to date (or associate with) white females. And vise-versa. My Bible doesn't say that... Glad we've come a long way since then!
  • Not having metal detectors at school. No need.
  • When the Dow was under 3,000 points. But we're on our way back there, so it may be something you'll remember too! :)
