It turned out to be one of the most momentous days for all Christendom, when Jesus visited with Levi, the tax-collector, in the city of Capernaum, and invited Levi to follow Him. Levi, later called Matthew, immediately left his seat of customs and began to follow Jesus. In the company of Jesus, during His earthly ministry, as an eye-witness, Matthew stored in his memory and in the notes he jotted down many details of what he saw and heard Jesus say and do.
After witnessing the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, Matthew began to evangelize, trying to reach other people for Christ,
